February R.E.C.A.P.

The books, podcasts, and products that have added value this month.

Formerly known as my “favs” list, here is your monthly RECAP of all the products, podcasts, books, and things that have added value to my life this month!  Let me know if you’ve discovered any new finds and what your RECAP looks like! <3

Reading

  • The Midnight Library – I just started this book and am breezing through it.  The story is about a 35-year-old woman who dies and finds herself in the ‘Midnight Library’  – a place where there is an infinite number of books, each one with a different version of her life based on the billions of decisions she could have made.  The chapters are short and it’s an easy read for anyone looking for their next fiction book!

  • Preaching the Gospel to Yourself – Reading this with my Bible study group and I love how The Daily Grace creates guided studies that make reading the Bible digestible, and easy to apply to your life.  I’ve used several of their study guides and the topics that this guide cover are thought provoking and very timely reminders for this season.

Eating

  • Wagyu fried rice at Animae. Bobby and I celebrated my birthday dinner here in early February, and I quickly remember why this is one of my favorite restaurants in San Diego.  The atmosphere, food, drinks, and service are all 10/10.  The chef was recently named a semifinalist for a 2024 James Beard Award and I love the Japanese spin on the traditional steakhouse dishes.

Community

  • Thank you to Korena and the team at Elevate Training for organizing our group cheer class at Certified Baddie in San Diego!  I grew up dancing and forgot how much I’ve missed learning choreography (not to mention the great workout I got while doing it!).  If you are in SD and looking to shake up your workout routine or are curious about taking up dance as a new hobby, the studio is welcoming and has all different formats and levels of group classes.

Adding to Cart

  • Fullscript Supplements – I’ve been ordering my supplements for years off Fullscript.  It’s an online supplement store that provides the best high-quality brands for amazing prices – and their warehouses are regulated so you don’t have to risk counterfeit supplements or hot temperatures damaging your vitamins.  As part of my community, you score a 30% discount off every order when you sign up for my dispensary!  I purchase everything from my supplements to protein powder on Fullscript; they even have clean skincare products!

  • 2024 Wealth Planner – Viewing health through a holistic lens includes nutrition, exercise, AND everything from your spirituality, relationships, and finances. I can talk about health and wellness all day long, but finances and budgeting have always intimidated me.  In January I started using the Money with Katie 2024 Wealth Planner and it’s provided such a powerful insight into how I’m spending my money.  Now that I see where I’m at my money, it’s motivating me to become more financially savvy.

  • My latest go-to athleisure set has been the Vuori Daily Pocket Legging and Yosemite Bra (TY to Jenny and the team at Vuori for gifting me this set!).  The material is buttery soft, and I keep grabbing for these leggings because the high waistband is flattering and the drawstring adds a fun bit of flair.  I have the set in black but the neutral colors are also calling my name.

Podcasts

  • Habits of HIgh Performing People, Why Sleep is the Best Health Hack and How to Prevent Alzheimers... – I’ve been diving deep into sleep and brain health lately (ICYMI read about brain health in my recent blog post).  In this interview Neurophysiologist Louisa Nicola unpacks her experience working with high performing people (think professional athletes and CEO’s) and what their brain functions have in common, how to optimize health using sleep and exercise, and the correlation between strength training and reducing neural inflammation.

  • Sami Spalter on the Power of Nutrition and Embracing Your Body – I recently discovered Sami Spalter (co-founder of FORM) on another podcast and love her story about overcoming struggles with weight loss and finding love in her movement practice.  Her energy is contagious, and I love that she talks about the importance of self-love and how her relationship with food and diet culture has changed through her transformation.

Thanks for RECAPing February with me! :)
