Ocotober R.E.C.A.P.

The books, podcasts, and items that have added value this month.

Reading

The Wedding People - When Phoebe hits rock bottom after being cheated on by her husband, she decides to check herself into the Cornwall Inn, a luxurious hotel she dreamed of going to for years.  While in the lobby she is mistaken for one of the wedding people who have arrived for the weeklong festivities to celebrate the bride and groom.  The uptight bride and Phoebe end up sharing an unexpected bond and you are taken through the emotions of two women navigating two very different stages of life and how their paths both led them to this point.  I loved the author’s writing style – it will make you laugh while pulling at your heart strings.

One Italian Summer – For anyone who has been to Positano or the Amalfi coast (or who has it on their bucket list!), this book will transport you to the Italian coast.  Katy and her mother Carol always shared a special bond, and they had been planning a mother-daughter trip to Italy together.  After Carol passed away, Katy was left with a hole in her heart and a plane ticket to Italy.  The story weaves together the emotion of finding yourself again after loss, unexpected romance, and the beauty and magic of a summer in Italy.

Eating

Slow Cooker Chicken Enchiladas – On my quest for making easy, healthy dinner recipes, I think I found my new favorite meal prep meal!  This foolproof crockpot meal checks all the boxes.  I’ve served this with rice or as a meal by itself; even for breakfast this works!  Let me know what you think if you try it!

Oyster hour at Jolie.  We made it back to Jolie for their oyster hour which was the perfect way to spend a fall Saturday evening.  This gem of a restaurant is located right on Orange Avenue in Coronado and everything on their menu is SO delicious.  I highly recommend the oysters, scallops, and the burger is also sneaky good!

Community

At the beginning of the month, I went to Colorado with my bible study group of girlfriends, and it was the perfect kickstart to fall!  We stayed near Breckenridge and took advantage of hiking, breweries, and cozy time by the fire.

We are one month away from our Designing Dreams Hope for Holidays gala!  Thank you to everyone who has donated to our silent auction – we have some amazing items including staycations, fitness class packs, and sailing tickets.  If you are interested in attending you can purchase tickets here  – it’s going to be a festive night with live music, dinner, and dancing – all going to a worthy cause!

Adding to cart

This month’s shopping funds went to new tires, so currently not adding anything to my other shopping carts, ha!

With the holidays upon us, I am starting to make my shopping lists, and you know I’ve got you covered with a wellness themed gift guide!  Look out for that in the coming weeks!

Podcasts

Oscar Nunez on Building a Hollywood Career: The Office, Dealing With Egos, and His Advice to Future Actors! – As a fan of The Office, I loved hearing a behind the scenes peek into Oscar’s career and his time acting in The Office.  He had a lot of great insight into being persistent, and for anyone who is feeling “behind” or is thinking about starting over in a career, he wasn’t cast in The Office until he was 46!

No Diddy.  The P. Diddy Tea You Guys Have Begged For + His Astrological Birth Chart Reading – Jordan is one of the OG wellness bloggers and influencers I started following, and it was fun to hear her cover the P. Diddy saga with her husband, Jonathan.  For anyone who has also gone down the P.Diddy or conspiracy rabbit hole, I highly recommend it for an entertaining listen.

Thanks for recapping October with me!  We are heading to Phoenix for Thanksgiving and I’m excited to spend some quality time in the desert visiting family and friends.  I hope you all have a Happy Thanksgiving and take some time to be present with your loved ones this season. <3
