Q1 RECAP
The books, podcasts, and items that have added value this quarter.
Reading:
Re-reading Verity by Colleen Hoover: After seeing some BTS footage on social media from the upcoming movie starring Anne Hathaway and Dakota Johnson, I had to re-read the book. Even though this was my second time reading it, I had forgotten about so many of the plot twists and was still on the edge of my seat the entire time.
Be Ready When the Luck Happens by Ina Garten: I love a good autobiography, and Ina Garten’s story did not disappoint. You probably know her from her popular Food Network show or the dozens of cookbooks she’s written. Did you know she used to work at the While House? After years building a career in politics, she took a bet on herself and opened The Barefoot Contessa bakery in the Hamptons, which has now grown into her empire that we all know and love. My takeaway from her story is that you are never too old to start over, and to follow your passions and curiosities. You never know where they will take you!
The High 5 Habit by Mel Robbins: I love Mel Robbins’ no fluff style of advice and her podcast is one that I always listen to if I’m looking for motivation. If you are getting in your own way and need a little tough love on quieting your inner critic, this book will provide you with the tools.
Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine by Gail Honeyman: This is one of my favorite non-fiction books I’ve read as of late. The story is told through the lens of the main character, Eleanor Oliphant, who is a socially awkward woman who has a fine, predictable life. Even though I found myself laughing at her blunt sense of humor and lack of filter, the story touches on themes of loneliness, trauma, and the importance of friendship. I could not put this book down.
Eating:
Peanut Butter Protein Bars. I love protein bars for a quick snack on the go, but even the “cleanest” bars have sneaky ingredients in them. I hate spending $3-5 on a packaged snack. I’ve been trying out different homemade protein bar recipes, and this is the one I’ve been making on repeat! Think of this like a Perfect Bar with a chocolate shell topping. I make these in a silicone muffin tray which makes them super easy to pop out of the freezer once they’ve formed. If you love peanut butter and chocolate, you will love this easy, protein packed snack.
Kale Junkie’s Marry Me Chicken Orzo – I saw this recipes on @kalejunkie’s Instagram and it’s been a go-to for an easy, weeknight comfort meal. Bonus points if you can get your husband to memorize the recipe ;)
Trader Joe's Chocolate Cheesecake Bites– This has been the perfect dessert after dinner. While it’s not considered “clean” by any means, each little square is only 5 grams of sugar, and the flavor is so rich and decadent, you feel satisfied after eating just one (or two!).
Honey cold foam latte – For the afternoons I need a pick me up or if I want to make my coffee feel extra decadent, I’ve been mixing honey and heavy whipping cream in a hand held frother and topping my iced coffee with it. It is the perfect sweet and satisfying boost of caffeine.
Community:
This quarter has been a balance of work, play, family time, and R&R. Highlights include spending my birthday in San Diego with my parents and a surprise visit from my sister, going to Flagstaff with Bobby and Jim (and getting snowed in!), going to a Colorado Rockies game in Denver with my new work team, and lots of Lagree, walks, and beach time.
Adding to Cart:
Laptop Screen Extender: Now that I’m working full time again and my laptop time has exponentially increased, I needed a solution to stay productive while I travel. I struggle without a second screen, and this laptop screen extender is a game changer. It attaches to your screen and is the perfect solution if you find yourself missing that extra screen when you are on the road.
Beam Dream Powder: If you are like me and have a sweet tooth before bed, this is the perfect nightcap. Beam was introduced to me by my brother (thanks, RB!) and I am OBSESSED. Think of this like a healthy hot chocolate with health benefits that help you sleep. I tried the chocolate peanut butter flavor and it was 10/10.
Necessaire Lip Balm: I love all of Necessaire’s products, and their lip balm is no exception. The metal applicator feels really soothing and cool when you apply the gloss, and it is a really nice consistency where your lips feel nice and hydrated, but not too sticky. I love that it’s unscented and clear, which makes it perfect for using before bed after you brush your teeth, or when you don’t want to “taste” your lip gloss. I’m almost out of my first tube, and will definitely be re-ordering.
Cocokind Chlorophyll Discoloration Serum: This is the second little bottle I’ve ordered this year. The serum has been in my nighttime rotation after washing my face and locking in moisture. I’ve noticed a difference after consistent use in skin tone and redness.
Ora Organic Protein Powder: I use this protein powder almost daily in my yogurt, smoothies, and protein bars. Ora Organics uses clean ingredients and they are based right here in San Diego! If you want to take advantage of 30% off ALL of your Ora Organics orders, join my dispensary on Fullscript here for not only discounts on protein powder, but high-quality supplements from brands like Thorne, Needed, and Pure Encapsulations.

I love background music when I’m at home. Lately, my go-to background music while I’m working is Spring lofi 2025, and I’ve been loving this Indie Chill Mix while I’m relaxing or doing chores around the house.
Thanks for recapping Q1 with me! What has been the highlight of your year so far?!
