10 health coach approved Costco finds

Healthy items to buy in bulk that won’t break the bank.

There are 2 levels of Costco: hell on earth or Disneyland.  Luckily, our most recent trip was the latter.  One reason is that we went at an off time, so we were able to take our time perusing the aisles without playing bumper cars with our shopping cart.  But the main reason I was particularly excited about this Costco run were the healthy food and household items we found throughout the warehouse.

Next time you go to Costco to stock up on your TP and paper towels, do yourself a favor and check out these ten healthy finds that won’t break the bank:

1. Organic hard-boiled eggs - $11.89

Love that these come in individual packs of two, so you can bring them on the go for an easy protein-filled snack.  Each serving is 12 grams of protein; I’ve been adding some avocado mayo, everything but the bagel seasoning, and salt/pepper for a quick, healthy snack.

2. Frozen grass-fed burger patties $24.99

I’ve talked about the importance of eating organic, grass-fed meat when possible.  Unfortunately, quality meat usually comes with a high price tag.  I love the frozen grass-fed burger patties – they are super easy to heat up in a skillet, or we’ve even ground up the patties to make tacos.

3. Organic dried mango - $17.99

We usually keep the smaller Trader Joes bag of dried mangos on hand for a sweet snack.  When we saw these babies in bulk, we couldn’t resist.

4. Organic smashed avocado – $12.99

These individual servings are your answer to those avocados that go bad on your counter.  The ingredients only include organic Hass avocado and sea-salt.

5. Paleo organic chicken sausage -$14.99

I don’t know if I’ll ever feel confident cooking chicken, but these organic chicken sausages are a perfect way to incorporate quality protein that doesn’t require handling raw meat.  I’ve been adding them into my pasta for those nights I want to elevate my buttered noodles.

6. Nut butters – (PB - $11.49 / AB - $11.99)

We go through nut butters quickly between our smoothies and protein balls.  Both the peanut and almond butters at Costco are organic and don’t have any hidden oils or sugars.

7. Vital Proteins collagen peptides - $31.99

Collagen is amazing for gut health, and Vital Proteins makes a great quality collagen peptide that is unfavored, so you can add a scoop to your smoothies, coffee, or oatmeal without that chalky flavor that a lot of protein powders have.

8. Dr. Bronner’s dish soap - $14.49

What you use on your skin and cleaning supplies directly impacts your hormones.  Dr. Bronner’s is one of my go-to brands for dish soap since I know they are EWG verified.  And, they are a local San Diego company!

9. Organic Greek yogurt - $5.99

I love Greek yogurt topped with hemp hearts, cinnamon, a scoop of nut butter, and whatever fresh fruit we have on hand for an easy breakfast that keeps me full.  Costco got it right by not including any added sugars which are commonly added to yogurt.

10. Organic hemp hearts – $18.33

Love adding this superfood to yogurt or a smoothie for an added protein boost.
