What I’m reading, listening to, and loving this month!

What I’m reading

Why you should divide your life into semesters, even when you're not in school - Love the idea of looking at the calendar through the lens of “semesters” to help set shorter term goals or intentions.

The Good Trade Daily Newsletter – I don’t know about you, but I love receiving good news every morning.  The Good Trade describes their newsletter as “30-second newsletter delivered to your inbox daily with soothing playlists, sustainable recipes, inspiring articles, and more.”

Remarkably Bright Creatures – After reading a few darker books, this was the perfect light-hearted read.  The book is about a woman named Tova who takes up part time work at an aquarium to keep busy after her husband dies.  She befriends an octopus named Marcellus and through this unexpected friendship she learns more about herself, uncovers a revelation about her past, and gains an entirely new lease on life.  Highly recommend if you want a feel-good story.

Johnny Carson biography –Johnny’s former lawyer, Henry Bushkin, does not hold back in telling the stories and antics of being Johnny Carson’s lawyer during the 70’s and 80’s when Johnny was the highest paid entertainer, and the trouble he often got him out of.  I didn’t know much about Johnny Carson other than he was the host of The Tonight Show, but I’ve been so fascinated by his story and flew through this book!

What I’m listening to

The Liz Moody Podcast: Superwoman Robin Arzon... – When I think of the word badass Robin Arzon comes to mind. She’s the head Peloton instructor and if you’ve ever taken her classes, you know she’s super motivating and encouraging.  I loved hearing her answer listener questions about how to go after your goals, and that you can manifest your ideal career, even if it doesn’t exist yet.

What I’m adding to cart

The Farmer's Dog – Jim loves this dog food and ever since we switched to raw food, his coat has been so shiny, and we haven’t had any issues with weight gain.  If you are reading this newsletter, you are probably health oriented and value eating whole foods, so it makes sense that our fur babies get the same nutrition; it’s insane how many chemicals are in traditional dry dog food!  If you are interested in trying this food for your pup, use my link above to snag a free box.

APL TechLoom Sneakers – “I saw Regina George wearing APL sneakers, so I bought APL sneakers”…not exactly the quote from Mean Girls, but I’ll admit I 100% was influenced by a girl I saw at the farmer’s market wearing these white APL sneakers.  Pair them with leggings, a baseball hat, and a pullover, and you’ve got your farmer’s market uniform.

Athletic Brewing Lite Beer – With sober October in full swing, I’ve been enjoying Athletic Brewing non-alcoholic beers.  The Cerveza Atletica tastes exactly like a Corona and their Lite beer is only 25 calories.  They also have fun Oktoberfest flavors and IPAs if you have a taste for something on the bolder side.  We’ve been finding them at our local grocery stores and even some restaurants.

Local love

Melt West – TY to Amada at Melt West for giving my eyebrows the TLC they needed!  If you are local to San Diego, head to Del Mar and visit Amada at her adorable space.

Strength in Unity Suicide Awareness event at Elevate Training – Congratulations to my friends Laurie and MK for putting on a moving and inspiring event that donated $3,200 to suicide prevention.  Love supporting friends for such an important cause.  Truly a reminder of the power of community <3.
